1. They Provide Itemized Quotations

A trustworthy contractor breaks down every cost. Material by material, task by task. If you see a single lump sum with "renovation package: RM45,000" - run. You deserve to know where your money goes.

What to look for: Line items for materials, labor, permits, waste disposal, and even buffer for contingencies.

2. They Have Their Own Workers

Many contractors are just middlemen who outsource everything. This creates accountability issues. When something goes wrong, everyone points fingers.

Green flag: Ask "Do you have in-house workers or do you subcontract?" In-house teams are accountable directly to the company.

3. They Welcome Site Visits

If a contractor discourages you from visiting the site or checking progress, that's a massive red flag. Trustworthy contractors encourage transparency.
